Resin Bonded Surfacing Ltd
Terrabound resin bound surfacing
Addagrip approved contractor Resin Bonded Surfacing Ltd has installed a new resin bound walkway in the Forbidden Valley area of Alton Towers amusement park in Staffordshire.
Over 900sqm of BBA approved Terrabound resin bound porous surfacing was installed on the new pathway leading from the Monorail to Galactica, the new flying rollercoaster ride featuring cutting edge Virtual Reality.
The path’s design was to feature a swirl pattern in order to give the walkway an organic flow. Resin Bonded Surfacing Ltd created the pattern by spraying out the design to mark out the two different surfacing colours selected – Terrabound Trent and Terrabound Autumn Toffee blends – which were then delineated with aluminium edging.
A resin bound black and white crossing was also required for the walkway. This was installed using bespoke blends of marble and basalt aggregates.
Installation was hampered by bad weather and, to meet the client’s deadline, the Doncaster team had to work until dusk to complete the surfacing in time for the opening of the Galactica ride.
The finished Terrabound surface is attractive and functional, providing a smooth porous walkway that will stand up to heavy pedestrian use and maintenance vehicles at this busy visitor attraction.
