Primary Spaces is a program developed by Sport England, who invested £18million of National Lottery funding into improving physical education spaces at primary schools across England.
Primary schools who successfully applied for a grant were those that had little or no outside space. Over 600 schools won grants of up to £30,000 and they were able to choose from a range of packages to enhance their sporting facilities with multi-use games areas.
The schools were able to choose from various design options included wet pour activity surfacing in a variety of approved meeting Sport England specifications, which RTC had the skills to deliver.
This work was tendered out to companies ranging from playground equipment suppliers to groundwork contractors, and RTC had to offer its specialist experience and industry knowledge to get involved and to be a part of getting children physically active at school.
RTC was enlisted by ten specialist companies for the Primary Spaces project, based on the company's expertise on wet pour graphics.
In total, RTC installed over 156 surfaces across 68 primary schools in the north of England since August 2014, covering a grand total of 13005m² of play surfacing.
These 68 Primary Spaces projects have helped children become more physically active by improving physical education, sport and activity facilities.
