CLD Fencing Systems has manufactured and supplied 141 linear metres of Dulok™ double wire mesh fencing with special posts to secure the new Land of the Lions enclosure at ZSL London Zoo, which is expected to open on 25th March 2016.
Rick Woodcock, Senior Sales Executive for CLD Fencing Systems, said:
“Supplying our fencing systems for such a majestic creature as the pride of endangered Asiatic lions is a real privilege. We have developed the whole fencing system to offer safety and security for both the lions and the visitors; whilst at the same time offering a view that is as unrestricted as we can make it.”
The Land of the Lions enclosure brings lions to ZSL London Zoo for the first time in two years. The enclosure has facilities for breeding to help to boost the number of Asiatic lions around the world from the current total of just 400.
Visitors to the £5.2million enclosure will be able to explore a park filled with rickshaws, rangers’ huts and a life-size truck, inspired by the designers’ trip to the Gujarat state in India where the pride of lions came from.
CLD’s fencing range has previously been used for big cat enclosures at Chester Zoo and Folly Farm, as well as the new polar bear enclosure at the Yorkshire wildlife park - the first of its kind.
CLD Fencing Systems is fast becoming a market leader in enclosure and exhibition zoo fencing and the inclusion of the Dulok Zoo Fencing System at ZSL London Zoo is another step forward.
