Hothorpe Hall's rich history can be traced back to 900AD. It is popular as a wedding venue, as well as for meetings, group breaks, church retreats and functions. Its current owners have overseen an ongoing programme of renovation and improvement on the hall and surrounding areas since 1984 with the aim of increasing the number of guests it can accommodate.
Award-winning luxury tree house and sustainable eco-lodge specialist Blue Forest was commissioned to design and construct a new woodland lodge destination within the estate's grounds.
The project to create six sustainable and low-energy eco lodges with 23 new bedrooms in total was more than two years in the planning.
Over 3,500 metres of 34 x 145mm C16 Marley CitiDeck® anti-slip decking was installed to ensure that all the external walkways around The Woodlands would allow guests to walk safely around the venue all year round.
Finish and appearance
- The safety of guests using an outdoor woodlands lodge all year round was imperative, so the design had to incorporate decking to support this. As The Woodlands is proving to be a very popular venue for wedding parties, there is extra responsibility to make sure that every wedding goes without a hitch.
- The Woodlands has a stunning architectural design, so the weather resistance of CitiDeck® will play a critical role in ensuring this remains the case for many years to come.
The Woodlands complex proved to be an instant hit in attracting more bookings for weddings and luxury breaks. The quality of the construction is done to the highest standards.
Hothorpe Hall’s Marketing Manager Sian Kalidoski said that The Woodlands, particularly its new tree house, is the icing on the cake of the new development. “The decking not only sits perfectly with the tree house construction but we are also delighted that it has anti-slip properties to ensure the safety of our guests all year round, as the oversized balcony is popular for stargazing and drinks al fresco!”
