An artificial grass rugby pitch has been installed by SSP at the Olympic Park for ActiveNewham in the fanzone for the IRB Rugby Union World Cup.
As part of the Rugby World Cup a fan zone is being provided free of charge for ticket holders on match days and to the general public at selected other zones. Facilities include food, live music and a temporary sports surface for rugby practice. Rugby has always been seen as a male public school sports and the Rugby Union is eager for it to lose this image. Events such as this provide opportunities for everyone to experience rugby in a fun environment.
SSP Specialised Sports Products Ltd has experience of installing not just artificial grass sports surfaces but also mini sports courts for schools, clubs etc. Our interlocking board system can make courts of any size.
The systems consist of interlocking foam impact matting covered with artificial grass. The impact matting contains recycled foam from the car manufacturing industry. The artificial grass used in this project is manufactured in the UK. 3g and 4g artificial grass surfaces are a popular choice now due to the Great British weather
The courts can be marked out for mulit sports as a MUGA or single sports use such as rugby, football, tennis and basketball.
