Gabion retaining walls are formed using a series of rectangular steel mesh baskets. Depending on the quality of finish required either woven or welded mesh with various thickness and corrosion protection can be used.

The cost of constructing gabion walls is largely dictated by the cost of the 6G gabion infill stone, that can vary widely depending on where the project is located.
