Challenge
The Dock Park Project sought to re-invigorate the park to meet the needs of Dumfries in the 21st century with the help of Jupiter Play. From the start, a number of organisations have been involved in the redevelopment of the park including DG First, The Friends of Dock Park and Ironside Farrar who designed the space using Jupiter Play equipment.
Solution
After funding was granted from Dumfries & Galloway Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund, the park was built and now features a mix of Proludic, Inclusive Play and FHS equipment.
Jupiter Play supported the designers and provided product advice to the architects involved before supplying the equipment for the park.
The coloured wet pour surfacing provided by Jupiter Play also helps bring the park to life creating an imaginative play area for Dumfries whilst retaining its historical character.
Outcome
The park was opened with a Royal seal of approval in May with a visit from The Earl and Countess of Wessex and is now in use alongside a variety of other new facilities in the area.
In October 2014, the park won a Green Flag Award and was the national winner of the People's Choice award ahead of other top parks in Stirling & East Renfrewshire.
