Challenge

The South Carriage Drive playground in Hyde Park is very well used by the local community and visitors to the Royal Parks. However, due to its popularity, the play area has become worn and outdated in recent months.

Jupiter Play was chosen to help improve the park, providing more creative play that would allow a larger number of children to play at once.

Jupiter Play took part in consultation, which showed a preference for timber. There was also a 'jungle walk' theme required.

Solution

A large bespoke multi-play climbing unit was created by Jupiter Play, which met all of the requirements from the consultation, the site itself, and the jungle walk theme.

The unit was painted to fit its surroundings and now includes green timber posts alongside the natural coloured robinia, enhancing the jungle theme. A curved tube slide was also added to the unit with platforms, climbing and balancing features.

Outcome

Alongside other new play equipment, the FHS Holztechnik multi-play unit sits as the main focal point at Carriage Drive in Hyde Park, extending the quality play facilities available.
