Challenge
Working with landscape architect Space2Place and contractor Groundwork Landscapes, Massey & Harris was asked to design, manufacture and supply play equipment and a shelter for a playground redevelopment project at Charlestown Primary School, Manchester.
Solution
A small Woodland log climber was installed with rope nets.
Three Oak climbing monoliths were designed and installed, each measuring 2.4m high.
The final item was a 10m x 4m timber canopy with polycarbonate roof and guttering.
In addition, the play area was surfaced with artificial grass.
Outcome
The timber canopy now provides ample shelter over the new picnic tables for large numbers of kids.
The artificial grass has been a particular success as it allows play in all weathers and provides a long lasting surfacing solution.
The new playground as a whole has been a great success.
