Bespoke GRP planters were commissioned from IOTA for Deepwater Point Apartments on Australia's Gold Coast in Queensland, one hour's drive north of Brisbane.
The focal point of the landscaping around the communal pool was 6nr. 3m tall Bottle palms (Hyophorbe Iagenicaulis), a rare and endangered palm species endemic to Round Island of the Mascarene Island group in the Indian Ocean. The palms' growth had started to cause structural damage to the pool, and therefore it was decided that the plants should be lifted and containerised.
IOTA manufactured and supplied GRP tree planters of L/W/D 1000mm, internally reinforced to withstand the substantial loadings of the Bottle palms.
The planters were supplied by IOTA Australia, the exclusive distributor of IOTA's products in Australia, and the company's first international franchise operation.
The landscaping impact of the Bottle plams on the pool area was preserved and enhanced, whilst ensuring the wellbeing of the precious plants, and avoiding further structural damage to the pool.
