Stone is a popular medium for sculpture because of its natural beauty, versatility and durability. It is a fantastic, natural medium from which to create robust outdoor sculpture. When compared with metal sculpture, stone is relatively cheap. It is extremely aesthetically pleasing because of the huge variety of colours and textures available. Stone will last for many decades or even centuries with only very basic maintenance required. Stone is very difficult to vandalise and can be treated with an anti-graffiti coating.
